The following is for people who love decorating things, whether it be their home or something else. When you want to decorate your mailbox, you have so many options available to you. Your mailbox can be the envy of the street! You can really make your personality shine through when you decorate your mailbox, making it a symbol of who you are and what you like, so be sure that you invest some thought into it. Of course, you can embellish your mailbox with the materials of the season, but that is really only the beginning. A smiley face on your box will advertise your unfailing good nature. Celebrate your Mediterranean heritage with a portrait of Zeus or Aphrodite. The need to actually have your name on your box so that the mail delivery person doesn't give your checks to your neighbor and his bills to you is pretty boring, but there's nothing that says it has to look boring. Enhance your last name with a fanciful (but always legible) font in wild and subversive colors -- pink and green, orange and purple, electric blue and gold; the choice is yours! Your mailbox will always get noticed, and you can decide for yourself if that's a good thing or a bad thing. People can often love making decorative mailboxes to the point where there are groups and magazines out there for just decorating mailboxes. The "Decorating Grannies" are a Kansas City group of mailbox decorators that has existed for the past three years. Basically, some of the old women in a retirement home chose to start a business where they could get paid to decorate people's mailboxes in a unique and startling way, putting out ads in newspapers and putting flyers up in the street to advertise their new and lucrative business. The retirement home received all the profits from the business, so that they could have better activities to participate in. You might take this story of enterprising old ladies and apply it to you and your group of friends. You might start your own decorative mailbox business and donate the profits to a charity or project you're passionate about, to make the community as a whole better with the money that you give it. You can better the community around you, and you'll have a great sense of accomplishment, as well as adoration from your friends!
